Aviation enthusiasts,help me out? A couple years ago fairly often I would see a plane go by that was shaped like the letter Y,it had a propeller in between the wings facing the opposite direction that most prop planes have. It was painted black. I haven't seen one again in a very long time. I hope someone here can tell me what it might of been,I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance guys.

There are not too many airplanes that fit your description. One that comes to mind would be a Varieze/LongEZ but since it's a composite aircraft it's very unlikely to have been painted black. There's also the Velocity and the Cozy, but once again the black color doesn't fit. There are a few others, but the ones I mentioned seem to me the most likely. If it was a single propeller (single engine) it wasn't a Beech Starship - that much is certain. Beechcraft Starship its not black idk if this is it Cessna Skymaster http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_Skymaster Starship, Piaggio, or some homebuilt. What you saw was a "pusher" plane. "Tractors" have the propeller in front and pull the plane along. Pushers have the prop in the back and push the plane along. Pushers are more efficient than tractors, but are are a lot harder to make practical in the real world. As for your pusher being black, dark colors are undesirable for aircraft since they absorb more solar radiation and make the plane unbearably hot in direct sunshine. Military applications, however, tend to prefer dark colors, since this helps make planes harder to visually detect. My guess is that you saw a popular homebuilt design: the Varieze, or one of the many similar planes this design helped spawn, like the Velocity, Cozy, Starship, Avanti, and more.

Honda . How to Install a Torque Converter Drain Plug

Building engine performance for use in a sanctioned automotive event demands that equipment be powerful and easy to tune. Rebuilding a transmission will include a fluid drain from both the torque converter and transmission housing. The job can be messy because there are no drain plugs to allow the fluid to drain. Install a torque converter drain plug to remove the oil that sits inside the converter even after draining the transmission pan.

Step by Step :

Secure the torque converter in a bench vise with the location of the torque converter drain plug pointed downward. It is recommended that the drain plug be installed on the outer edge of the converter in the band that encircles the unit. Point that location at the five thirty position, and firmly secure the converter in the vice. Use towels or rubber to place in between the bench vice and the converter to protect the outer skin of the converter.

Insert a 1/2 inch NPT drill bit into an electric drill. The drill bit will make an opening that then can be tapped to fit the 1/2 inch NPT drain plug. Begin drilling at the location for the new torque converter drain plug by using the drill at low speed until the bit makes its first cuts into the converter's outer band. Once a mark has been made by the drill, you can begin to speed up the RPM of the drill to cut through more quickly. The drill and drill bit should be pointed upward into the converter to allow for all the metal shavings to fall free of the converter. These shavings must be prevented from entering the converter.

Stop drilling once the tip of the drill bit has broken through to the inside of the torque converter housing. The cuts now must be made slowly, as you open the hole into the converter. Sharp drill bits will cut ribbons of metal when rotated slowly. It is important to keep track of every piece of metal as you drill, and tap the hole for a torque converter drain plug. Use a small retractable magnet to reach inside the converter to attract any metal pieces that may lie on the inside of the housing near the hole.

Insert the 1/2 inch NPT tap into a tap handle, and lubricate with a small amount of cutting oil. Place the tip of the tap into the hole in the side of the converter. With the tap held in a vertical position from the hole, begin to twist the tap into the hole. Turn clockwise, until the tap can be felt to be cutting, then back off. The process of tapping a hole involves firm turns clockwise to cut, and then counterclockwise to remove the debris. Control the amount of metal shavings that can fall into the converter by using the magnet to clean the work area around the hole. The small shavings will collect in the cutting oil, and can be pulled from the converter using the magnet. Tap the hole deep enough to allow for a torque converter drain plug to be threaded at least half way for 1/2 inch NPT drain plugs.

Place two drops of Loctite on the 1/2 inch NPT drain plug, and thread into the newly threaded torque converter drain plug hole. Turn counterclockwise until tight, or until the top of the drain plug is even with the outside edge of the torque converter. Never thread the drain plug so deep that the loosening adapter is beneath the outside edge of the torque converter.
Tips & Warnings
Balance the torque converter on a converter balancing machine, or bring the converter to a transmission rebuild company. By adding a torque converter drain plug, you will have changed the balanced weight of the unit. Rebalancing involves spinning the converter on a table, and the offset weight is measured by a computer. View a torque converter balance at ATI Racing.

Without a proper balance after installing a torque converter drain plug, an offset in weight can damage internal transmission parts and gears. Any alterations in gear, converter and pump weights can affect handling.

Proper transmission torque converter action is necessary for the adequate function and operation of a vehicle's transmission. There are a number of problems and issues that can develop with a transmission torque converter. What follows is a brief list of the most common signs of a bad transmission torque converter.
Transmission Gear Slippage
A bad torque converter will often cause transmission gears to slip out of place, especially under heavy acceleration. By altering the flow and pressure of circulating hydraulic transmission fluid, a bad torque converter can prevent optimal hydraulic transmission fluid flow, which can allow gears to slip.
Reduced Acceleration
Many times a vehicle that has a bad torque converter will seemingly lack engine power and/or acceleration power. Proper vehicle acceleration is influenced in part by the proper hydraulic function of a torque converter. A bad torque converter will often times prevent adequate transmission pressure from developing, which in turn reduces engine acceleration and power.
Hard Shifting
Hard shifting, which normally occurs when a transmission "slams" or "drops" into gear as opposed to shifting easily into gear, is a common symptom of a bad torque converter. Proper, consistent torque converter action, including proper hydraulic fluid pressurization, is mandatory for smooth transmission gear shifting. A bad torque converter lacks the ability to pressurize hydraulic fluid normally, which can result in hard shifting.
Transmission Surging
A vehicle that surges, or lunges, while being driven at a constant speed is oftentimes a vehicle that has a bad torque converter. This condition, which is normally caused by the erratic flow and pressurization of hydraulic transmission fluid within the torque converter, is a classic symptom of torque converter dysfunction.
Transmission Lag
Transmission lag is a condition where a vehicle's transmission takes a long time to build up sufficient transmission fluid pressure to affect vehicle movement. Transmission lag is most apparent in a vehicle starting out from a complete stop. A bad torque converter can lack sufficient converter and pump action to provide adequate hydraulic fluid pressure to affect normal vehicle take-offs.
